This is a guilty pleasure to counter my machismo and I love listening to these songs again.

As compared to his latest album, Melody Road, which the Neil Diamond groupies are all giving five stars just because it's Neil Diamond, this collection is all legitimately five-star Neil Diamond. These are the original recordings of 23 of his best compiled from different collections/albums, from his early stuff (i.e. Kentucky Woman, Sweet Caroline, Solitary Man), to 70s-80s hits (i.e. Song Sung Blue, Forever in Blue Jeans, America, etc.) The listener can do no better in a compilation of great Neil Diamond than this.I bought this after buying his latest album based on the rave reviews found on Amazon, and decided that either I was missing something or that the new stuff just isn't all that phenomenal, and that biased reviewers would give ANYTHING Neil Diamond does five stars. Sorry, folks, but that does people a disservice. A five star review should not just be given away because you think an author/singer/celebrity can do nothing wrong or not up to his/her usual standards. It's supposed to help people either unfamiliar with (not too likely with Neil Diamond, who has been around for 40+ years at least) material make an informed decision. Reviews that say simply "It's great!", "It's the best!", etc. not only are not reviews but are simply applause for someone the "author" of a review wouldn't give a bad review to if it were an album of belches and drum beats. These are essential songs for anyone who wants a Neil Diamond collection, and from his Tin Pan Alley days, to his rocking period (Cherry, Cherry, Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show) to his African period (Soolaimon), there's something for everyone.This, then, is an ACTUAL five-star collection that actually deserves the rating.

I didn't plan to write a review of this collection. However, I noticed that some reviewers complained about the sound, and some complained that these are not the original versions. I can't speak for them, but I find the sound to be excellent, and these versions are the ones I always heard through the years on the radio. I felt that I should say that.And, since I am already here and everything, I figure I may as well mention the songs I love the best. "Holly Holy" is the reason I bought this CD. It is more than a song to me. It is a spiritual experience. Others that I love, in the order they are found on the disc, are: "Song Sung Blue", "America", "Love On The Rocks", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" (even without Barbra), "Kentucky Woman", "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon", "Solitary Man", "I'm A Believer" (even without The Monkees), and "Cherry, Cherry". What surprises me about this collection is that out of 23 tracks, I dislike only 2 of them. I really had expected to like only about half of them. One final thing: Neil Diamond's charisma. It has been literally decades since I've heard some of these songs, and I had forgotten just how emotional he gets when he sings. I thought I remembered him as being "light" and "laid back", but now I remember how intense he always was about his music, both writing it and performing it.

Pre Ordered this and got it fast...and at a lower price which the difference was refunded promptly. First Greatest Hits album since reuniting with Capital Records so all of these are original studio releases instead of later versions like on other greatest hit albums. If you love the Original Neil Diamond you will LOVE this one!

Many of the songs are not the studio versions you want to listen to but various live recordings mixed in with the radio versions we are all use to. This deluxe version, on the other hand, contains 42 tracks and has just about every one of Neil's best songs from the original studio recorded albums, not to mention the great digitally remastered quality that you can't get on his classic albums. For only $7 more than the 1 disc version, this collection is a must buy for any Neil Diamond fan.

I loved Legacy of Kings and so I was eagerly anticipating the sequel, Empire of Dust. I absolutely loved the sequel! There is magic, betrayal, murder, attempted murder, a little romance, and a lot of surprises. There were some plot twists that I didn't see coming and I love that! There were also some unanswered questions and I hate that! I need book three stat!One thing I love is how Eleanor Herman weaves a lot of factual history into the story. For example, one of the (minor) characters in this story was Artaxerxes, ruler of Persia, who in his youth, murdered eighty of his brothers to win the throne. Hephaestion and Alexander did actually have a close relationship with one another in real life. Just knowing these little facts makes me appreciate how hard it must have been to weave to together this epic fantasy with historical facts."This is the most enduring and most magnificent thread in literary weavings both old and new—the indestructible bond of our collective history." --Eleanor HermanThis book had me turning the pages to see what happened next. I had a hard time with Legacy of Kings the first in this series, but Empire of Dust was fantastic. I'm going back to reread Legacy of Kings as I think I missed out on what was going on. It's a bit like Game of Thrones - lots of characters in different areas - and I didn't appreciate what was going on in the first book. But now I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series. But I really need to reread that first one!

I loved this sequel to Legacy of Kings! There's so much double crossing and betrayal! The history has been expertly weaved with magical fantasy! I really loved reading from all the different point of views

This is the third and best book in the series IMO. Enjoy the magic, the mystery, and the adventure. Author knows how to weave a story.

Purchased this for someone else who couldn't seem to put it down.

While I found the map pack for Dungeon of the Mad Mage to be a wonderful GM planning tool, the uses of the Ravnica map pack are less clear. You get doublesided, dry-erase, 8.5"x11" pages representing the 10th district and its associated precincts (and information about those precincts on the back of the pages), one map each for each of the 10 iconic guild locations included in the boo (with information about them on the back,) and perforated cards for the guild charms you can give to your players. You also get one map for the short adventure included in the Ravnica book. Since Guildmasters Guide to Ravnica is a campaign setting sourcebook and not an adventure in itself, the maps may or may not be useful to you as you run your own Ravnica-inspired campaign. It's unlikely, for instance, that you'll have players visiting each of the guild locations.Those location maps include an unlabeled player map on one side, and a smaller, labeled GM map on the other, with information about the location and a table you can use for inspiration about adventures you can run using that location. This is an odd decision on a number of levels. The player side will have to be photocopied and enlarged to be usable as a battlemap, and that's clearly the intent with that side of the page. Since each map is drawn to a slightly different scale, you can't even necessarily blow them up using the same proportions. The GM side of the map is fine, but if you're using it, it means that you should have some idea about why the players are visiting that location, so you wouldn't need a table to generate reasons for them to visit.The precinct maps are fine and lovely, but I don't know if there's any benefit to having them on a dry erase page rather than just having them in the book or on DnDBeyond. They aren't gridded, so you won't necessarily use them to plan battles where a dry erase page can be used to track enemy and trap locations.The charm cards are great. They include beautiful, stylistic guild-specific, character art on one side. This art is not from the book as far as I can tell. The other side has the charm information. You get two copies of most of the 10 charms (18 charm cards total). Each card has unique character art even if the charm itself is duplicated on two cards. It's worth noting that the charms are not in "card format" in the book, so this is a unique presentation of that material.Overall, this product probably wasn't necessary, and will likely have a very narrow audience of GMs who can make use of most of the material contained within it. Going forward, these map packs are best for full adventures (like Dungeon of the Mad Mage) where enemy, trap, and secret tracking in various "dungeons" is emphasized.

Sadly this just had pages from the book. It's nice for player handouts but it doesn't have anything interesting that the book doesn't already provide.

As someone that uses a messenger chat group to post maps for the group im always having to block our or filter out words that detail what the room has rather than just the dimensions which is what i want my players to focus on. So on one side it is very handy to have that. However i did expect a lot more than just the maps that were in the book I expected some more places in the tenth district, im going to have to make a ton of buildings...

The suz of the smaller maps aren't correctly sized for use on a table during combat so you'll have to photocopy them and blow them up to scale. There really aren't a whole lot of useful things in here that shouldn't have already come with the core book. The artwork for the city maps are beautiful and quite detailed. The smaller building maps are, frankly, unacceptable. Because the size of the maps are so small, they can't actually be used during combat in a DnD adventure. The charms are a good edition to the game setting and many of them are useful in a variety of ways, allowing you to cast spells you might otherwise not have.Whoever delivered the package to my apartment did a bang-up job trying to fit it into my mailbox. I opened the package to find the outside cover/folder bent and creased in several spots. I'm not happy with this as the act of delivering the package has now taken several years of use out of this product. I predict the folder will start falling apart even faster now that it's been artificially aged more than a year due to careless delivery.

This is an excellent addition to the recent D&D release for Ravnica, giving the complete maps of the locales listed in the hardback supplement. My group is very excited to play in this expansion, since many of us are M:tG players and are very familiar with the lore presented. But Amazon saw fit in shipping a light product, akin to a magazine, in a soft pouch shipper, resulting in the item being bent/creased through in-route handling. Amazon Fulfillment needs to review their packaging guidelines.

Shannon Curtis is an independent songwriter, singer, performer, and recording artist. Her second full-length record of downtempo dreampop, Metaforma, was released in June 2014, one day less than a year after her 2013 debut album Cinemascope. Wow wow wow. This book is jam-packed full of ideas for how to successfully start doing house concerts. You really don't have to know anything about how this works first, Shannon takes you step-by-step through the entire process in easy-to-understand language, and you know it works because she's been hugely successful at it. I'm starting in my own state and I've already got three concerts on my calendar with more people interested. This isn't just theory, it's a real, tested how-to manual. If you want a quick, entertaining read with no fluff where basically every sentence is highly actionable, get this book! I cannot wait to get started.

The methods and advice in this book absolutely work. There is no smoke and mirrors or the typical consultant upselling that you sometimes find with books that claim so much in the title. We host and help other hosts with their house shows and after we started following Shannon's methods the experience went to a whole new level. The musicians make way more money and have more engaged fans than any other approach and the hosts are so much happier with the process. I've recommended this to all the musicians I work with and they haven't been disappointed. I wish all the musicians we've hosted would have read this book.

What a revolutionary book! I love the concept, and I love even more that the author herself has done house concerts, not just once but several times with success. I love how this gives hope to the everyday musician who may be struggling to make a living. This should be a major eye-opener for them. I know it was for me. Although I have yet to do a house concert, it is something that I have been thinking about. This book has inspired me to move ahead and begin planning a house concert tour. The author gives a lot of information in this small book, and the fact that she has done this successfully herself inspires me to give it a try. From finding a host to what equipment you will need she offers proven advice. If you are a musician in need of more income (ha) and want to spread your name around, house concerts could be the key to achieving those goals.

Shannon Curtis clarifies a number of points, based on her own experience, in summing up the do's and don't's of home concert performing. In an age when even the bar gigs may not generate enough revenue for artist survival, the option of performing for an audience in a listening environment is an excellent way for a performer to "get out there." Additionally, she takes a lot of the mystery from the procedure by pointing out what has worked, as well as what hasn't. Shannon Curtis's husband (and co-author) and I worked together in nightclubs many years ago and he's about as solid a dude as they come. Shannon is a great singer and if you ever get a chance, make sure you see her live.This book is packed with great advice from two people who are living legit artist's lives and supporting themselves.It;s obviously geared towards musicians, but I think any entrepreneur or freelancer who works creatively could find a few nuggets of wisdom in here. I work in social media and advertising now and I think the parts of the book that deal with promotion could easily be adapted to small business stuff or event planning.

I have not yet ready read the entire book from start to finish, but I can tell its laid out well. Shannon lays out how to successively play outdoor concerts with little to no hassle at all. If problems do arise, Shannon explains how to overcome and or resolve them. This book is definitely going to be a keeper for a long time. When I don't want to gig and make good faster money, I know Shannon can help me.

I never (well, RARELY) write reviews, but had to for this book. After YEARS of slowly collecting bits and pieces of knowledge, experience, etc. with different supplementation ideas, I was still confused and overwhelmed. Facebook forums are great for sharing stories, but how to know what you should believe? For example, I had heard a lot about Magnesium, and how it has been so helpful to so many, but there are so many different types - I never did figure out which one was the best. I didn't understand WHY it was helpful, how much I should give, what type, what brand, etc. Dr. Greenblatt does a perfect job explaining in easy-to-understand terms, but still clinically (with tons of references to studies performed worldwide), WHY ADHD kids' brains may be responding the way they do, and how it could be corrected. Obviously, every child is different, but he lays it out in a step-by-step format, so you can start with the #1 thing he has seen results from (adding a Magnesium supplement), and work your way through. He explains different tests that can be run for various problems (gut imbalances, food intolerances, vitamin & mineral deficiencies (or imbalances), etc.). If the test reveals a problem, he has a suggestion for how to resolve it. It is everything I have been searching for in one manageable source. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of results can be achieved. My boy (11) has been on ADHD meds for two years, as has been necessary for school. It worked great for keeping him on task and focused, but the side effects of moodiness when they wear off, and lack of growth (and appetite) are enough that we are taking him off for the summer. This book came at the perfect time, we can try out these natural methods and not have to worry about school suffering in the meantime. I will try and remember to update this review if I see any results from any of the recommendations.

My 4-year-old was just diagnosed with ADHD (but we've been living with his symptoms for about three years now), and I ordered this (audio) book because I am insistent on finding natural help for him- I am adamant about not giving him toxic drugs.Anyway, my husband and I have only just begun listening to the book, but we are in awe! In fact, I had researched Dr. Greenblatt's recommendations prior to receiving the book (my parents sent me his article in a newsletter that they found- which began my search); and we had already begun Magnesium and Lithium Orotate before we started to learn more indepthly about it via the audio book. Wow! We saw a huge difference in just one day- literally (and keep in mind that this is a 4.75-year-old boy who was expelled from Pre-K4 due to his behavior)!Add to that, our son was his former "wild" self one night- a couple of days into implementing the Magnesium and Lithium Orotate- of which we later learned that he did not take his Magnesium supplement during lunch, which I had put in his lunch box for him to take. No wonder he was wild again! Another indication that we're on the right track!We can't wait to delve further into the book to hear Dr. Greenblatt's other recommendations for ADHD, to assist our son even further! My only "qualm" with the audio portion of the book is that it's really a must to have a pen and paper available as you're listening, because Dr. Greenblatt gives specific information- specific types and dosages of products, etc.- that you'll need to write down in order to refer back to it for treating your child (or yourself). It would be much easier to have the actual book in front of you and highlight things you'll need to refer back to.Thank you SO much for your work, Dr. Greenblatt! And thank you so much for the detailed information you give in your book! From a parent's perspective, it feels like you laid-out in detail in your book exactly what you would have prescribed if we actually had an appointment for our son with you in your clinic in Massachusetts. But this book saves us from plane flights and thousands of dollars in order to travel from Arkansas to your clinic. You have no idea! After years of concern, chaos and tears, we finally have hope! And optimistic hope- without medication (which is KEY for us!). You have NO IDEA how comforting that is... and to see results so quickly! We are in awe, and are are forever grateful! THANK YOU!

I thank the authors for bringing this information to a wider audience. Still, I'm glad that I kept researching after reading it. Reading only a couple of chapters of Why Isn't My Brain Working by Datis Kharrazian caused me to scale back my enthusiasm for Finally Focused. By the time I finished Dr. Kharrazian's book, I was convinced that just reading Finally Focused without any other input could encourage an overly simplistic approach to brain health. With more research, it becomes clear that diet changes and balancing blood sugar must come first and that more information is needed before supplementing with vitamins and minerals that have potential for toxicity. Those of us who are sick of doctors treating symptoms rather than addressing root causes must resist the temptation to replace the drug du jour with the supplement du jour. No matter what we put in our bodies, we must thoroughly understand its impact on the complex biochemistry of our brain and body.So far I haven't found much information from other sources about nutritional lithium but I am still looking; Finally Focused provides enough information and support for its efficacy that I think it is worth looking into further. Still it’s unfortunate that Dr. Greenblatt placed his blood sugar chapter toward the end of the book. If we all learned and internalized half of the many ways blood sugar imbalance disrupts almost every bodily function from the head down, I doubt we would ever see candy and convenience foods as harmless and fruit juice as healthy. Reading Dr. Kharrazian’s book makes me understand why we need to start with diet changes to regulate blood sugar and get exercise for better circulation. Rather than telling patients to eat well and exercise as an afterthought, all doctors – but especially functional medicine practitioners – should make clear exactly what they mean by that and why it is vital. After addressing glucose balance and getting oxygen to the brain, patients can be properly evaluated for support.

35+ years old and still up-to-date. It is interesting to read older Economics books like "Free to Choose" to see how accurate they have been in predicting outcomes of policy. It is easy to write a book with hindsight as we often see today by "experts" blaming this or that well after the fact. Milton Freeman had incredible foresight. Not because he could predict the future but because he understood Economics so well that he could simply predict outcomes of policy based on an asymmetry of economic knowledge that very few other Economists, let alone policy-makers, have. I have read this book a couple of times over the years and enjoyed his PBS series by the same name, that first aired in 1980. Also a more up-to-date version by Swedish Historian Johan Norberg's "Free or Equal" - Free to Choose 30 years after.

Below are key excerpts from the book that I found particularly insightful:1- "Economic freedom is an essential requisite for political freedom. By enabling people to cooperate with one another without coercion or central direction, it reduces the area over which political power is exercised. In addition, by dispersing power, the free market provides an offset to whatever concentration of political power may arise. The combination of economic and political power in the same hands is a sure recipe for tyranny."2- "The experience of recent years--slowing growth and declining productivity--raises a doubt whether private ingenuity can continue to overcome the deadening effects of government control if we continue to grant ever more power to government, to authorize a "new class" of civil servants to spend ever larger fractions of our income supposedly on our behalf. Sooner or later--and perhaps sooner than many of us expect--an ever bigger government would destroy both the prosperity that we owe to the free market and the human freedom proclaimed so eloquently in the Declaration of Independence."3- "Prices perform three functions in organizing economic activity: first, they transmit information; second, they provide an incentive to adopt those methods of production that are least costly and thereby use available resources for the most highly valued purposes; third, they determine who gets how much of the product - the distribution of income. These three functions are closely interrelated."4- "Our society is what we make it. We can shape our institutions. Physical and human characteristics limit the alternatives available to us. But none prevents us, if we will, from building a society that relies primarily on voluntary cooperation to organize both economic and other activity, a society that preserves and expands human freedom, that keeps government in its place, keeping it our servant and not letting it become our master."5- "The ballot box produces conformity without unanimity; the marketplace, unanimity without conformity. That is why it is desirable to use the ballot box, so far as possible, only for those decisions where conformity is essential."6- "Freedom cannot be absolute. We do live in an interdependent society. Some restrictions on our freedom are necessary to avoid other, still worse, restrictions. However, we have gone far beyond that point. The urgent need today is to eliminate restrictions, not add to them."7- "In one respect the System has remained completely consistent throughout. It blames all problems on external influences beyond its control and takes credit for any and all favorable occurrences. It thereby continues to promote the myth that the private economy is unstable, while its behavior continues to document the reality that government is today the major source of economic instability."8- "The waste is distressing, but it is the least of the evils of the paternalistic programs that have grown to such massive size. Their major evil is their effect on the fabric of our society. They weaken the family; reduce the incentive to work, save, and innovate; reduce the accumulation of capital; and limit our freedom. . These are the fundamental standards by which they should be judged."9- "A society that puts equality--in the sense of equality of outcome--ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. The use of force to achieve equality will destroy freedom, and the force, introduced for good purposes, will end up in the hands of people who use it to promote their own interests...Freedom means diversity but also mobility. It preserves the opportunity for today's disadvantaged to become tomorrow's privileged and, in the process. enables almost everyone, from top to bottom, to enjoy a fuller and richer life."10- "We believe that the growing role that government has played in financing and administering schooling has led not only to enormous waste of taxpayers' money but also to a far poorer educational system than would have developed had voluntary cooperation continued to play a larger role...We have tried in this chapter to outline a number of constructive suggestions...These proposals are visionary but they are not impracticable...We shall not achieve them at once. But insofar as we make progress toward them--or alternative programs directed at the same objective--we can strengthen the foundations of our freedom and give fuller meaning to equality of educational opportunity."11- "Insofar as the government has information not generally available about the merits or demerits of the items we ingest or the activities we engage in, let it give us the information. But let it leave us free to choose what chances we want to take with our own lives."12- "When unions get higher wages for their members by restricting entry into an occupation, those higher wages are at the expense of other workers who find their opportunities reduced. When government pays its employees higher wages, those higher wages are at the expense of the taxpayer. But when workers get higher wages and better working conditions through the free market, when they get raises by firms competing with one another for the best workers, by workers competing with one another for the best jobs, those higher wages are at nobody's expense. That should be obvious now that nations like China and Vietnam, while retaining political repression, have given wide scope to free markets and thereby lifted millions out of poverty. Contrast that with Cuba or Venezuela, where central economic planning prevails, and the people are largely destitute.The book's argument is often attacked as an appeal to "greed," which is unfortunate as "self-interest" is not necessarily greed. I think mostly of one of my leftist friends in this regard who assails capitalism and whatnot, but who, due to his comfortable job in a government bureau, is able to pursue an acting and singing career after hours. Is he not, there, pursuing his self interest? And doesn't the larger public benefit from his ability to deploy his talents? I along with many have enjoyed many of his performances, and will continue to. It's just Friedman's thesis at work: we all benefit when everyone seeks his own interest.The book is often attacked as being anarchistic (or something like that) -- that is, that "limited government" or "less regulation" means "no government or "no regulation." Quite to the contrary, Friedman argues for a very clear and specific role for government in regulating natural monopolies, enforcing contracts, and taking many other actions to make sure that markets function openly. He clearly embraces regulation with the stipulation that when employed the benefits exceed the costs. And there's the rub with many government programs (say, agriculture subsidies): they favor entrenched interests rather than the commonwealth.His arguments about free trade convince me that it is the best way to help the poor in the world. I've read that the annual subsidy for one cow in Belgium rivals the annual salary of an African subsistence farmer. Take down that trade barrier benefiting the rich Belgian cow owner, and that farmer suddenly has a chance to present his goods on a world market. My point is, if you care about the poor, and if you care about social justice and all that, this might just be a crazy (and, for a change, effective) way to go.I don't fully agree with some of the book's policy prescriptions regarding environmental, education or monetary policy, but I suggest that Friedman's thoughts, formulated in the 1970s and published first in 1980, are far more likely to be successful than current ideas like "common core" or "quantitative easing."Overall, this is a thought-provoking read no matter what your political stripe is.
