Daniel L. Akin is the president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. in Humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington and is the author or editor of numerous books and Bible commentaries including Theology for the Church and the New American Commentary on 1, 2, and 3 John.  David Platt’s first love in ministry is making disciples—sharing, showing, and teaching God’s Word in everyday life. He has traveled extensively to serve alongside church leaders around the world. David is the president of the International Mission Board and the founder of Radical, a resource ministry that exists to serve the church in accomplishing the mission of Christ. He is also the author of several books, Follow Me, Radical, and Radical Together and most recently Counter Culture (to be released February 2015). He is the founder of Radical (Radical.net) a resource ministry devoted to serving churches and disseminating disciple-making resources. I give Daniel Akin a lot of credit for writing this commentary on Revelation. How does one write an exposition of this controversial and diversely interpreted book without alienating large segments of the Christian community? Akin manages to do it quite admirably.Dr. Akin interprets Revelation from a premillennialist perspective. I am not a premillennialist and was skeptical as to whether this book would benefit me. I appreciated Dr. Akin's awareness that not all of his readers would see the prophesies in the same light as he does. I appreciated that Dr. Akin was also not dogmatic about his interpretation. Most of all I appreciated that he very ably brought Christ to the forefront of each chapter. This quote accurately describes his approach: “Revelation may be about eschatology and the future, but even more than that it is a book about the glory and greatness of the warrior Lamb and the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Lord Jesus Christ. Even those with differing theological perspectives can agree on this.” (p. 9) As one with a differing theological perspective I wholeheartedly agree. Akin succeeds at keeping this central theme as the focus of his commentary.Here's how Dr. Akin and I differ in our approaches to Revelation. Akin states: “One of my definitions for apocalyptic is 'the present addressed through parallels with the future.' John's readers were being asked to identify with the people at the end of history and gain perspective for their present suffering through he future trials of God's people.” If I understand Akin's statement correctly, then I think he has it backwards. The future should be addressed through parallels with the past. John's modern readers are being asked to identify with the early Christians in their trials and suffering under Roman rule in order to gain an understanding of their own future circumstances. When studying any book of the Bible, my conviction is that we need to understand first what the words of the writer meant to his readers in order to understand how to apply the message to us in our day.While Dr. Akin does offer his own interpretation as he expounds on Revelation, his focus is foremost on proclaiming “the majesty and glory of the warrior Lamb, King Jesus, who is coming again to rule and reign forever” (p. 4). He stresses this theme throughout the entire book better than any of the several commentaries I have read on Revelation and I commend him for it. I want to encourage even those like me with a “differing theological perspective” to dig into Akin's book. I will certainly be returning to it the next time I teach or preach from Revelation.

Exalting Jesus in Revelation cuts through mountains of speculation about the Book of Revelation, pointing the reader to the Main Character of the Bible, Jesus Christ. It also points out that unlike other apocalyptic books, the prophet is instructed *not* to seal up the prophecies he has been given, but to make them known, because the time of their fulfillment is near. As far as I have read, this book offers tremendous hope for anyone troubled by personal and/or world problems, as well as very practical suggestions for keeping Christ at the center of the reader's life.

This is a fun and romantic tale. With the wide spectrum of individuals that contribute to this fun read, it has a similar flavor as the movie, 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'. I laughed, I cried, & I loved every minute of it. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and partaking in a bit of their lives. Not only are the main characters believable, but also the supporting cast is just awesome. I had no problem envisioning Ethan in all of his different costumes, he's the perfect loveable diva. But I think my favorite supporting characters are Inez & Joe, because they, together, have created a loving & incredibly supportive family. And in this day and age, that is something to be proud of & cherish. Robin Alexander should be very satisfied with her work in this book, I definitely am. I would really love to read more tales of these characters' exploits, they are highly entertaining & I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ENOUGH!! I've read several of Ms. Alexander's books, & I've yet to be disappointed. After having read this book, I've decided that either the author has an incredible imagination, or she has hilarious neighbors & excellent people watching skills. Whatever the answer, I hope she continues to write many more imaginatively entertaining tales.

I went through all yhe emotions with this one. I love this author's humor, tenderness, and ability to make each of her books separate. I don't mind the books with all the sequels and back stories, but it says something about the author when she can churn out a great individual book Every time. And yes ladies, she's not afraid to write in great sex! I love you!

I can’t begin to describe how I enjoyed this book full of quirky characters. At some point, while reading in the subway, I got asked by some young fellows whether I was all right –because I was trying to suppress my laugh-out-loud outburst to a point of tears running down my cheeks!It’s a sweet story, it celebrates differences in the context of family, a family that supports its offspring and its union, both the Chases and the Savinos are strong on sticking to and supporting their own. It’s also a sweet self-discovery story. Never mind, the story line is great with full fledged characters, but the telling of it is so totally and incredibly funny and enjoyable. Go for it!

What a wonderful and hilarious story. I can’t help but wonder if Ms. Alexander’s stories are inspired by real life events. That would make for a interesting and laugh-filled life. The cast of characters in this story are a combination of eccentric, nutty and loving bunch. I applaud this author for creating these “get out of your rut” and submerse yourself in laugh-out-loud scenarios. I am a huge fan of Ms. Alexander and I look forward to reading many more humorous stories in the future.

Robin Alexander is my go to person when I want a good book to read. Her characters are well developed, likeable and funny as all get out. I always hate to see them end. This book was no disappointment in the good book category, either. I go back and reread most of her stories, this being one of the ones that makes it into my favorites folder to reread in four or five months. Robin has a killer sense of humor and I love reading along and up pops one of her zingers. It's great!

I'm not very good at writing individual reviews because I tend to accidently give away spoilers and plot points so Ifigured I would write out a generic review instead and save myself the time and trouble. If I am putting this review on abook it means that I found it to be truly exeptional and I enjoyed the journey very much, so thank you to the Author forputting a great story down on the pages.

I am always on the lookout for a new read from Robin. I find her extraordinarily talented. The narrative, characters and dialogue in her books create a world of believable and colorful places and characters as true. Robin brings alive small southern towns and loving quirky inhabitants. I laugh out loud and have tears leak out of my eyes. This is a wonderful romance. Enjoy reading this.

I have been a long time reader and great admirer of Mr. Follett' s works from all his early spy and espionage books to his masterpieces in Pillar's of the Earth, World Without End and his 20th century trilogy! When I noticed Whiteout on Amazon, I couldn't believe there was a Follett book that I had not read!Without to much critiquing, let me just say that in my opinion, this was by far the worst book of his career! I found none of his talent encompassed in this book. Actually, I thought it must have been written by a ghostwriter!As I said, there is no cause to go Into detail for my reasoning. I urge long time Follett readers to engage in this book and draw there own conclusions!

If this book had come with a free sample of the lethal virus, I would have taken it about halfway through.The plot had potential. The end.Worst of all was the character development. Oxenberg came across as a marginally intelligent buffoon, and Toni could have been the protagonist in almost any Danielle Steele "novel".It got that second star because, after all, this is Ken Follett. If you like reading about lethal viruses, pick up any of Richard Preston's books. The Hot Zone is the most well known, but all are great. If you like Ken Follett, pick up....well, anything but this.

A gambling addict and computer genius decides to use his computer skills and knowledge of the security system for a biological laboratory to resolve his gambling debt. The laboratory, owned by his father, was looking for ways to deal with a deadly, incurable virus. The son developed the security system for the laboratory and it was not possible for it to fall victim to compromise ... except by him. When his father stopped covering his gambling losses he became desperate, just as the gambling syndicate intended. The plan seemed simple enough: infiltrate without detection, steal the virus samples and meet the buyers the next day for payoff. Set in Scotland, a minor snowfall prediction turns into a full scale blizzard upsetting the plan resulting in a series of snap decisions that ends up with a hostage situation at the home of the lab’s owner. Twists and turns, colorful and interesting characters and terrorism threats keep the reader turning pages rapidly.

I just finished reading this book, Whiteout. I've been reading hard all day. Good thing I am camping and had no responsibilities. I could not put this down. Instead of chapter titles, Follett put the time..it moved so quickly. I am breathless but fulfilled. Truly this is an epic of a page-turner. A true definition of that.

I was disappointed with this book. It COULD have been a great story, if only he'd left out the teenage "I can't tune out what's going on in my pants" bits. Really? Even though you're in a very dangerous situation right now? I'm no prude, but it was so heavy handed and sloppy that it distracted me from the suspense. After a while, I gave up. Too bad.

I love all of Ken Follett's books. Of all the books I have read of his he never fails to deliver. I have watched him grow up from a very young handsome man to an older, statesman like gentleman who is still handsome and is still a great author. If Follett's books can't hold your attention you must have a problem. He is simply great.

After reading several Follett books, all of which I considered very good, this was adisappointment. The tight timeline did not make sense - to me. And maybe it wastoo many characters - whatever, I had a hard time keeping them straight. In fairness,the plot did make it a good enough read that I finished.One thing to keep in mind - these good authors are smart enough to make the Kindle"sample" intriguing enough to buy the book!And if and when another Follett comes along, I'll go for it. He's one of the fewfiction writers I read all of his books. The other, of course, being Grisham.....

Well done...kept my interest for sure. 4 not 5 stars as the heroine seemed singular in action for the complexities represented in the story. I really liked that the story continued for quite a while after the supposed climax.
