I always like the relationships when one is famous the other person is clueless. This is a fun and entertaining read.

I loved Gray and CC. I enjoyed theirs interactions. It was sometimes fun, sometimes sexy, sometimes deep and sometimes just everything of a little bit.Gray is... Well, Gray. I know it doesn't mean any sense to you, but when you meet him you will understand. I liked how he goes from this careless playboy to a guy you immediately fall for. I don't even noticed when I gonne from just smiling and shaking my head at his antics to the moment when Gray crawled into my heart. But I think that was because beside the fact when that man loves, he does it with his whole soul, his another one of best qualities is his family. They may be crazy and sometimes can drive you bonkers, but they are one of the best gifts a man can give you. Because they are the kind of family that will always has your back and make you feel loved.CC got depths, that at beginning you couldn't guess she has. At first all you see is this funny, sassy girl who's is quite happy with her life. But later you are allowed to see into her soul and you see that she has insecurities and scars, that still were bleeding. They are inflicted by other peoples flaws and selfishness. I has my suspicions and at the end I have to say I was not happy that I was right. It made me sick and so pissed that people can be so depraved and happy to inflict wounds on others. In those moments I wanted that CC fought back more, instead of just taking it. Don't get me wrong. CC is strong girl. But even strong one can be broken after being hit over and over. I was just happy CC didn't let it to cripple her completely. That no matter her fears, CC let love into her heart.When Jordan announced that she's trying something different with her new series, I wasn't worried. I had fate, that even though it wouldn't be as raw, gritty and action packed series with tattooed, dirty bikers, she will give us something special to stroke and to chew on. And I was right. It's a success. I was invested into this story. Actually, I was so into it, I ended reading in one go overlooking my commitments. Whatever. Who cares about them anyway, right? I had a wonderful time. And that's what important. I so can't wait to read more about this colorful family.

She needs a weekend away when she meets Gray.It was supposed to be a one night stand that turned into two. CC doesn't think she'll ever see Gray again, but when his car breaks down in her small town, she comes face to face with the man that rocked her world.This is a cute, fun read. I did skim parts because it was dragging in some places and redundant in others. As a personal preference, I enjoy some sex with a story, not some story with the sex. If you enjoy a story that is built around the next time the main characters can have sex, then you'll love this book. This story does end at about 54%.

But being stuck in a small town, day after day, would drive anyone crazy, which is exactly why she is trip to Lexington; that and to get lucky. After a passionate night with a drop dead hunk! C.C. leaves for home, never expecting to see the guy called Grey again! That is until he breaks down outside her garage, on the way to talk to her arch-enemies. Greyson Lucas is the hunk that hooks up with C.C. but that is not all he is! He is also the bad boy of the Golf circuit, which includes a sex tape! Now he is on his way to Crossville KY to secure sponsorship with Riverton Metals, but he gets the run around from David Riverton and gets stuck dealing with David's annoying daughter Cammie instead. But what he don't expect is to run across the hot babe (admittedly it took him a while) that he couldn't get out of his head, and somehow he manages to convince her to go out again and it surprises everyone just how good they are together. Now these two dysfunctional people try to make a lasting relationship work; but traveling and business doesn't always make it easy! But they make it happen. But when enemies set out to destroy everything they have both worked for and combined that with their own secrets; are they strong enough to stay together. To start with The Perfect Stroke is a romantic comedy and I'm notoriously known for hating them! BUT!! The Perfect Stroke is well written and without fluff and fillers. The plot is not only hysterically funny, but it’s a true, screwed up love story that I can totally get behind. When it comes to the characters I absolutely fell in love with the Crayola Gang (Grey and his brothers) and I am honestly desperate for White's story!! And even though I love Grey's Mom Ida Sue, if I never hear the term "Ride the J-Train" again it will be too soon! Grey and C.C. are perfectly dysfunctional together and really I'm not sure how the author will be able to these beat these crazy love birds. I give The Perfect Stroke 5 stars!

Colin Wilson was a bright light in literary criticism. He exploded onto the scene with The Outsider, a study of the literary history and function, both thematically and psychologically of the outsider and was destroyed by an uptight press for living with a woman in what was, even in the sixties, considered sin. He was challenged to write a horror story and this is one of them. A smart and well written take on the vampire mythos. It was made into the movie LIFEFORCE and they didn't mess it up too much. The book is as much about the metaphysics of life itself and the nature of good and evil as it is about vampirism. Worth the effort.

And I like the movie. "LIFEFORCE". Always have!👍👍But after reading the novel I totally understand now WHY Colin Wilson HATED the way his book was adapted to the Big Screen. WHY he HATED the way his story was utterly & severely metamorphosed from "THE SPACE VAMPIRES" into "LIFEFORCE"!Like its film "adaptation", the actual novel & original story is also VERY different & weird, & an interesting narrative.BOTH "The Space Vampires" & "Lifeforce" are a nice change from the usual & ordinary.The movie for its mood, atmosphere, & more.The novel for its aura, mystique, & uniqueness, and MORE ...

I bought the book because I had watched the film "Lifeforce" for the umpteenth time and noticed that the film was based on it. Overall it wasn't a bad story. Much better than the film, although the ending felt a bit rushed and superficial. It's a good book for those wanting to become acquainted with a more classic style of sci-fi literature.

The 1985 movie "Lifeforce" was based on this novel. Having seen the movie and only just now reading the novel, I had no idea of how loose the connection was. While reading, I was able to visualize Commander Carlsen with actor Steven Railsback's face, but that was where the resemblance (in my mind) between novel and film ended. The whole tone of the story is different. The ending is radically different. I enjoyed the movie and the novel, but they stand as separate entities to me now.

Great read. Very interesting take on Vampirism, ancient alien life forms, and human interactions and energy transference, with some fairly erotic parts. This is different from the film Lifeforce by Tobe Hooper, which I love and which is the reason I picked up the novel. The Entire ending of the film is completely different in every way. However the novel is wonderful and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Science fiction, Vampires, or the 1985 film.

A good story, based on an interesting premise – vampires who live on the energy of others, rather than their blood. The story is set in the future (around 2020?), where a spaceship travelling from Earth to Jupiter encounters a vast space vessel with a huge hole in its side. Exploration of it reveals some squid-like creatures in a tank of liquid, and several human-like beings in suspended animation. It is when these are woken that the trouble begins, as it turns out they are energy vampires, who can also possess the bodies of others. Back on earth, the spaceship captain finds his body is now inhabited by one of the vampires, and two others are on the loose somewhere in Britain. A visit to a Norwegian vampire expert, who is remarkably youthful given his advanced years, reveals more about energy transfer, and its close relationship to sex (pretty much everything seems closely related to sex where Colin Wilson is concerned). So... the story and its premises are pretty good, but I still found Colin Wilson's writing style stilted, and his characters don't really come to life. For a novel it's very 'talky'. And Mr Wilson is still doing that (to me) weird and disconcerting thing of referring to, e.g., garments as though they don't belong to the person wearing them, e.g. 'he removed the coat' instead of 'his coat'. I've never read this any other book (and I've read books dating from the 18th C to the present), so I can only assume it's personal to Colin Wilson. Either way, it interfered with my ability to 'get inside' the book.

This is not a typical work of Colin Wilson, this is just an excursion in science fiction for his own good reasons. In this work he strays away from his usual intellectual haunts of the meaning of life and the x-factor to have a bit of fun with Vampires. Readers who enjoy his work will buy and perhaps enjoy this little romp as I did. But that is it. There is no more. Enjoy and don't be disappointed.

Colin Wilson shares a very unique and riveting tale of space vampire aliens that expands the boundaries of science fiction reading. I found the style to be very descriptive and at times erotic. I found the ending to be rewarding, though I won't spoil it. When the nature of the alien race is finally revealed, you will find yourself looking at things in a new way. It's different, but overall I found this book to be an excellent and entertaining read.

interesting history of the English language

If the English language were to be understood from the very coinage of words and those words reflect as meanings to our thoughts....it would be easier to grab a dictionary, but this book will give anyone the insights of words and its usage over periods of time, though mention must be made here that many words still retain their reverberating meanings.....an excellent read.

This dictionary truly can be read as a book! Some of the definitions are really interesting.

This 2005 Penguin Classics selection from Samuel Johnson's Dictionary features only the silliest words. I was looking for "meek," "humble" and "restraint" but none of these (or any variants) are included. The words chosen to illustrate the cover say everything about this editor ("renowned linguist David Crystal") and about our cultural moment: "fopdoodle" (fool), "perpotation" (act of drinking), "smellfeast" (a parasite), "vaticide" (a murderer of poets).Indeed. Dr Johnson and the English language are presented at their worst here. I went back and ordered the Unabridged Kindle edition and found everything I was looking for. Don't waste your money on this venal sample of academic pretense.

This book was a bit of a disappointment so I am rather glad I ordered Johnson's book as well. I needed it for some more research on languaging.

I will have to say that this is one of the best books that I have read in a while. It held my interest. Some heavy subjects were discussed but in a light way. The author brought these subjects out without making them appear in a sad or bad way. If there were any tears, they were tears of joy. I really like this authors writing style and will read more books by her. This is a good clean romance story with no sex or swear words.

The Billionaire's Email-Order Date is a heartwarming romance. Chris blames himself for his wife's death three years ago. Kate is all alone and not looking forward to the holidays. Kate stops at Chris' to deliver a singing elf telegram. He mistakes her for his email date and whisks Kate off to Montana for Christmas with his family. Kate needs the $10,000 and she has another reason for being in Montana. Kate falls in love with Chris' entire family. Will this whole charade derail? What will happen when Chris discovers Kate's secret? I thoroughly enjoyed this book which I read in one sitting.

Chris lost his wife 3 years ago when she fall from a horse and broke her neck. He still hasn't forgiven himself. He has emailed an agency to send a girl to be his fake girlfriend. So when Kate shows up in a elf costume to sing him We Wish You A Merry Christmas, he thinks she is playing around and tells her she is late and hurry band change so they can get to plane on time. Kate needs to get to Billings so she goes. How will they figure all theseproblems out. Well written story with strong and believable characters. Perfect Christmas story with guilty feelings, learning how to forgive and love again plus family not knowing how to help each other. Really enjoyed.

I have to admit the story started off quite cute with Kate being mistaken for Chris’s email-order date and the path those two follow once they meet will be one full of emotion. This is a fast read and a touching love story perfect for the holidays. The characters are a wonderful batch that will make you smile.Final Rating: 5 Stars

The mistaken identity was a great premise. The truth coming out so early made the story more engaging to find how things would get resolved. The guilt seemed a bit dramatic, but I've never experienced anything like that so maybe I'm just not as sympathetic as I could be.I felt the steaminess level was a bit much. I don't want to truly blush when I'm reading a romance, just "aww" a little. I would rate this a warm PG-13.

This is a very touching story and it hit home for me. This couple have both been deeply hurt in different ways. They are together by accident and it is obvious to everyone (except them) that they are good for each other. I most definitely recommend this book to others!

This story can catch you in a whirlwind, as you follow the two main characters, and imagine what could happen. Vivi Holt writes in a fun way, and wows you throughout the book. You will not want to put it down, until the end. I highly recommend reading this one!

Al Winseman is Global Practice Leader for Faith-Based Organizations for The Gallup Organization. Since joining Gallup in 2000 to develop this new practice area, Winseman has led research into the characteristics of effective congregations. Prior to joining Gallup, Winseman served as a pastor in the United Methodist Church for 15 years. He lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, with his wife, Jane, and their two daughters, Julie and Kaleigh. Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D., (1924-2003) was past chairman of The Gallup Organization and coauthor of the national bestseller Now, Discover Your Strengths and other books. He was named the Grandfather of Positive Psychology and the Father of Strengths Psychology by the American Psychological Association. He is survived by his wife Shirley, four children, and nine grandchildren. Curt Liesveld is a Senior Developmental Analyst, Consultant and Seminar Leader for The Gallup Organization. The bottom line is that if you have read SF 2.0 or Strengths Based Leadership (the ‘executive version’) then in my humble opinion, you have absolutely no need to buy this book.A brand new book gives you access to the StrengthsFinder online assessment, which computes your top five “themes” or those natural, born-with-it talents that you productively apply the best. The book then claims that it will reveal to you how you can leverage your innate gifts to build up the church, Christian communities, and faith-based groups. Ultimately, Living Your Strengths does not accomplish what it sets out to do because (1) at its core, it does not draw a clear map of how people with specific gifts can engage their communities in specific, meaningful ways. (2) It fails to make a plausible connection between how the spiritually committed can enrich their faith communities; instead it offers superficial advice on how devoted people may add to groups in general.Living Your Strengths is not a book that you read cover to cover. Rather, after getting through the introductory material, you will tend to focus only on those talents that apply to you. Chapter 4 has a 1-2 page analysis of each theme that gives you (i) a paragraph long description of your talent (ii) Bible verses that relate to your talent (iii) action items that will help you better understand your talent. Chapter 5 then details about a dozen action items that you can employ in your personal life and your faith community for growth and service. Chapter 5 is where the potential “money is” in that it has the greatest prospects for actionable guidance. What you are left with, however, is “advice” that largely equates to common sense and things that you could easily think of on your own. For example for one of my themes (Futuristic), one suggestion was to talk to other people in my church about the future or read the Bible and pay attention to when it talks about the future (pg. 187).Moreover, this book feels forced. It seems like a marketer was looking for another segment to sell an additional StrengthsFinder book to, and this was the result. There is no legitimate connection between the themes and work in faith communities other than offering some Bible verses and general advice that is equally applicable in secular vocations. I can’t read God’s mind, but I sincerely doubt, for example, He had the “Intellection” theme in mind when He inspired the writing of Luke 2:46-47 (pg. 117).What this book does manage to do well is open your eyes to what you should be doing in your faith community: that is, scaling up what you do best and not fussing over your weaknesses (that’s what teams and delegation are for). Again, this is a point more clearly explicated in StrengthFinder 2.0 and Strengths Based Leadership.In closing, a word of advice to all potential buyers: Unless you have already taken a StrengthsFinder quiz and know your dominant themes, you must buy this book new. A new book comes with an exclusive one-time access code in the back that unlocks an online survey. It was worth the $24 for the online leadership strengths test that comes free with the book. But I felt it didn't get into enough detail about how to apply my strengths after identifying them. Seemed also to basically find a way to identify every personality type as a 'strength' without acknowledging that some 'strengths' (i.e. competitiveness, harmony, relator, woo) can very easily turn into problems if not kept in balance. In the end, the analysis of ones strengths is complete and very accurate but the suggestions as how to apply strengths is lacking. I'm using the online test to raise the self-awareness and personality-awareness of my team, but I'm looking for a different source as a guide to applying our strengths.

A local church offered a class involving this book. It has been a life-changing experience for me and I highly recommend it to you all. Buying the book gives you an access code to take a test (I love tests). THIS is one I doubt you can figure out and "cheat" on. You have 20 seconds to answer a question, the two answers for which are not necessarily related. Your answers are compiled and you get a list of your top five "Strengths". I though it was ridiculous until I actually did it and saw the results. Try it for yourself. I think you'll be amazed. Please do not think this has anything to do with "religion". This has to do with your LIFE! It has helped me to understand myself better. Everyone I know who has done this exercise has been transformed. Not to say they've changed, they just understand themselves much better and can deal with themselves the way they are. The boost to your self confidence will amaze you. You will understand why you behave the way you do.

I have mixed thoughts on the book. On the one hand, it is straight tutorial on the basics of Camtasia 9 and is very appropriate for a novice user of Camtasia. Since I started learning Camtasia by just working with the software package, the book helped me tremendously.However, there several problems with the book. First, I agree with several of the other reviewers the font is a bit on the small size and could be a little bit bigger. Second, there seem to be several content errors in the text, or more accurately references to an earlier version of the software. For example, on page 58, the author asks the learner increase the duration of an asset from 6 seconds to 20 seconds to demonstrate that increasing of the duration of an asset will push any of the assets following it to the right. If the learner follows the procedure, Camtasia 9 will not let the user change the duration, nor does it push any following assets to the right. Thinking I was doing some wrong, I researched the issue on TechSmith website. According to the TechSmith website, the company removed the automatic adjusting of assets on the timeline from Camtasia 9. Another example of issues with content is the author asks the learner to press Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar to start the playback from the beginning of the project. However, the TechSmith website indicates there is no keyboard shortcut to start playback from the beginning of the project. I checked for a list of corrections on IconLogic, but was unable to locate any. Third, the text lacks some good independent exercises or final project to reinforce learning material.I am giving the book three stars because it has filled the gap between my previous knowledge of the application and I the knowledge I now have.

I purchased this book after attending the BrightTalk Cooking Up eLearning Demos in Minutes with TechSmith Camtasia. The book’s author gave a brief demo on how to use Camtasia. Just from watching this demo, I gained a better understanding of how easy it is to use Camtasia. After viewing this demo I ordered this book. I highly recommend this book to people who are new or trying to learn about what can actually be accomplished with the application. I learned about Camtasia’s features and how I can use them to create basic videos, including the ability to do voice overs, behaviors and transitions. I also like the book gives you some best practice tips on creating a script for video recording, selecting fonts for on-screen reading, as well as other tips sprinkled throughout the book.

This is exactly what I needed to understand how to use Camtasia 9. I'm not a techy person, and I need hand holding. This may be basic stuff to other people, but to me...it's a whole new world. The illustrations and practice sessions are perfect for shutting down my intimidation and fear that I'll "break" the program or just fail at getting my projects done. Thank you for the great tutoring!

Very good as far as it goes. But I was hoping for more advanced information, tips, and tricks. Something well beyond the basics. I know it says "Essentials" in the title, but since it is the only manual currently published by Techsmith on Cam9, I was hoping for more. That said, if you need the basics only, this will be a good choice.

If you need to learn how to use Camtasia basics fast for a current project, this is the book for you. I'd like to see a similar treatment of some additional topics, but the content in this book was sufficient to get me going. After that, it's "doing the thing" that creates the best learning. Get started here.

I loved this book, found it extremely helpful in learning and produced a very professional video based on the fundamentals learned in this book. I am now ready to try some of the advanced features with full confidence!

Great product, easy to work with, good variety of stock sounds to use.

All I really wanted to know is how to record/edit a PowerPoint presentation, something woefully missing from other help topics. This writer believes that all Camtasia recordings should be voice overs recorded separately from the fancy graphics, and if you want anything else, tough. It was worse than useless. It wasted a lot of my time. The fact that I got my PP recorded was in spite of this book, not because of it. If what you really want to do is record your visuals and your voice separately, then get it. Otherwise forget it.
